Intuition

Last updated: 1/9/2025

Intuition is just knowing something because it is just so obvious. This is built up when you understand how things work on a very deep level, using the [[Feynman Technique]] is one way to develop intuition. There are three ways to build intuitive understanding. First, there needs to be a little bit of a struggle that makes learning the concept stick better (if it wasn't a struggle then you probably won't be developing intuition/understanding by doing. Ex. is [[Feynman]] calculating all of the forces in a physics problem instead of doing it the easy way just to get a better understanding). The next thing to do is to prove something yourself. Don't just agree and assume that this thing is correct and take it at face value if you want to develop intuition.1 Very often, students assume they understand without actually understanding it2. Another is to prioritize concrete examples. If you can put something into a metaphor, then you probably understand it well. ^6b60ca
