Berkeley. I'm here through August 28 for the Generator residency.

What I'm working on. I'm recruiting for a def/acc startup building AI systems for strategy. I'm spending most of my time writing job descriptions, learning about how to hire well, designing our interview process.

What I'm building. gdoc-sync, which syncs my markdown notes to Google Docs and back without mangling them.

What I'm learning. I'm learning about focusing, authentic relating. I have been getting surprising gains from this in my personal life!

What I'm curious about. Whether AI safety as a field just needs to get much better at hiring, and what the most useful thing to build for that would be. I'm doing the hiring right now, so I keep running into it.

What's coming up. I'm training for a 35K trail race in the Berkeley hills on September 12. I tested my aerobic threshold and it's slower than I expected, so I'm keeping every run easy until then.
