To get into a psychiatric hospital you might:
- be deemed a harm to yourself or others
- a nursing home patient
- patient being placed into a nursing home
- homeless
The average stay at a psyciatric ward is 5-7 days but that is how long the insurance covers. This guy says that the health care system is forced to treat mental health illnesses only with medication. You can de-escalate people mostly.
