Infotrophism

Last updated: 1/9/2025

Infotrophism is the act of trying to maximize information. The human brain does this is very cool ways. One way is to "subtract" past information to make the brain more sensitive to new information. An example is that when you hear the same background sound for a while your brain stops hearing it and the more predictable that sound is, the less you'll hear it. This is also (I think) why interesting things are things that are new because they are very hard to predict. The reason why humans like novelty is because it is evolutionarily advantageous.
