Metalearning
Last updated: 1/9/2025
Metalearning came to my attention from Scott Young's ultralearning and it is the process of learning about learning. In a general sense, like how I am learning about learning by reading ultralearning, but also about learning about the specific learning project at hand. For example, learning about the best way to study [[calculus|calculus]], the best resources, etc. Scott Young says that for ultralearning projects, metalearning should take about 5-10% of the total time. This is because metalearning is extremely valuable and makes your learning much more efficient. Moreover, you should engage in metalearning more if you are approaching a plateau because your current method is not working as much as it should. Another part of learning about your learning is learning why you want to learn what you want to learn. This primes your brain to be more receptive of the information because you know why you want to learn it livewired. ^c39afd
